Fattet or Fatta is one of the most famous ancient dishes in Lebanon, Palestinian, Jordan, Egypt, and Damascus, but every country has its own way of preparing it.  The Arabic word “fatta” means that crumbles bread, rice, chickpeas, chicken or lamb with spiced yogurt.

Fattet chicken and chickpeas is not only delicious, but packed of protein, carbohydrates, vitamin, and minerals. Fattet chicken a perfect dish for weekend or on the family table.

1- Chickpeas


A chickpea or Hummus is a highly nutritious legume. It contains a great amount of minerals such as iron, potassium, phosphorus, manganese, and calcium, as well as a great source of vitamins B, fiber and proteins.

Chickpeas is one of the most important sources for people who vegetarian, and a favorite dish in Arab countries.

Great Fattet Chicken with Chickpeas for Weekend


Yield: 4 Persons

Preparation Time: 15 Minutes

Cooking Time: 60 Minutes

Level: Medium




3 chicken breasts cut in small cubes

Pine nuts

1 cup chickpeas (soaked overnight with 1 tsp baking soda, cooked and rub as many of the skins as possible)

2 cups fried Arab fried bread, cut into pieces

10 cloves garlic, crushed and mashed


Tahini paste


Juice of 3 lemons

Spices for chicken

1 tsp each of allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, pepper, salt, cardamom




1- Sauté chicken with spices in a pan until golden brown. Set aside.

2- Make sauce with lemon juice, 3/4 of the garlic, tahini, and yogurt. Combine until creamy.

3- Mix remaining mashed garlic with lemon juice.



1- Place fried bread on bottom of bowel. Drizzle garlic/ lemon mixture.

2- Pour on top chickpeas (warmed).

3- Pour over tahini sauce.

4- Pour on top sautéed chicken (hot) and garnish with pine nuts.
